Pitch Prep

Hello, this is Team 12 and we will be taking you through the development process of our team project. Come along!

This team project involves the production of an innovative strategy game. We will be supported by a team coach, technical mentor and a software critic that will be guiding us and providing us with feedback at the different stages of the production: a quick hack, a minimum viable product and the final complete and high-quality software product.

The team had various ideas on what the game should be about and what the strategy in the game would be. We considered strategy games team members may have played previously and ways in which we could make our game innovative. The initial idea we had was having a top-down plague-style game where the player would have to move around the map intelligently to sanitise the houses on the map from the disease. We discussed the different features the game would have using the MoSCow method of feature prioritisation. The acronym stands for Must have, should have, could have and Wouldn’t have. Thus, the initial idea was expanded, and the team came up with a possible backstory, a well-defined strategy and the proposed mechanics that will be put into the place.

The overall vision was unchanged from the initial idea; however the key mechanics were discussed very thoroughly and were quite detailed as they would have played a big part into making this a strategy game. The team discussed who potential users of the game might be and what strategy would be put into place to excite them.

The team had to get together to pitch the idea for our game to the mentors and critics in the form of a 3-minute long video which would present our idea and we would receive feedback.
