Feedback from Pitch

Hello from Team 12! In this blog we’ll discuss the feedback we were given from the technical mentor and critic after having presented them our 3-minute long video pitching the idea of our innovative strategy game.

Both of the assessors were really impressed by the idea of our game as they found it innovative and interesting. They particularly liked the idea of the sanity element in the game as it will make it harder to heal people if your sanity level goes down and the fact that the game has ‘replayability’ as the disease can re-emerge even when the villagers in the house have been healed. They asked for further clarity in regards to what the game play and the what the scoring system would be. The team explained that the game play would have a 2D top down map with day and night cycles and that there isn’t a set good or bad ending, instead there are multiple endings depending on the player’s decisions taken in the game.

The technical mentor was particularly interested in knowing how the team was going to manage itself as the scope of the game is quite broad. The team explained that there is a mixture of people within the team with different skill sets and that each team member was going to be assigned a job according to that. The team would be coordinated by a ‘Team Leader’ and would aim to spread out the responsibilities within the project as much as possible. The format in which the team decided to undertake the process of development was using the Scrum framework and to use Trello to keep track of the task progress. We discussed the different communication tools that we use to communicate any changes and updates, these included the use of WhatsApp as a primary means of communication, GitHub as a means to communicate additions and changes in the source codes and Google Drive as location in which all the important documents are to be kept. The use of Discord was also discussed as a good mean of communication.

Overall, the feedback that was given to the Team was very positive and helpful as it made the team reflect upon what the next step forward would be for the development of the game.
