Hack Prep

Hello from Team 12! In this blog, we’ll discuss the initial development of the game which would be presented to the mentors in the form of a Hack.

In previous meetings, we had already decided the different roles each team member would have and made a plan for what we were going to present to the mentors. The team met up weekly for weekly scrum meetings in which each team member presented what they had produced for that week’s team meeting as well as the team leader assigning workload for the upcoming week.

After having received the feedback from the mentors, the team narrowed down the scope to produce a list of the main game features that would form the Hack. Below is the list of the essentials we were going to prioritise: - To create a demo house map and initial village map. - To produce the basic shop UI with upgrade purchasing. - To produce code able for Non-Player Characters to be killed and healed. - To produce code able for the player to gain currency from healing. - To produce sprites and link them to actors.

All tasks were being assigned and completed. Trello was being used and a card system with ‘to do’, ‘in progress’, ‘review’ and ‘complete’ columns was put into place to update the other team members about the stage at which team member is with their assigned task. Trello was a very effective communication tool which helped the team manage the tasks in a systematic manner.
